One of the most well known K-12 private schools in the state of Maine, Wayneflete, is located just a short walk from the Western Promenade cradled by many of the 19th century mansions of the neighborhood. The public school, Reiche School, is also walking distance from what could be your new home. This promotes a nice family feel within this neighborhood.
The West End is home to great markets, coffee shops, and outstanding neighborhood restaurants. People love Tandem coffee shop for it’s incredible fresh roasted brews and morning baked treats (Don’t forget to try the Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich, it melts in your mouth!) The Rosemont Market on the West End has incredible local produce, meats, cheeses, fresh baked goods, and a great selection of beers and wine with a lot of offerings from local breweries. It’s also a great market to just stop in and grab something you may have forgotten for dinner preparation. Chaval is one of the best fine-dining restaurants in Portland and is located in the West End. The owner chefs combine Spanish and French cuisine in a notably approachable way making it the perfect place for casual and perfectly executed dinner and brunch. Local 188 is one of the West End’s most popular restaurants as it has been a neighborhood staple for over a decade and has an incredible bar scene. Another favorite is Boda. This Thai restaurant located in the West End has all your favorites dishes done to perfection which includes a great skewer menu. Lastly a classic West End staple is Ruski’s Bar and Grill. This establishment offers the flavor of Maine in its aesthetic alone. If you want a beer and a burger stop at Ruski’s. There are so many more great businesses as the West End has so much to offer.
